Christmas Trees on Loop 360 in Austin
Every year around this time, the Juniper trees along 360 are “mysteriously” decorated by local elves. It’s a wondrous event, a tradition that many say “keep Austin weird.”
Apparently there’s been a mystery as to who has been doing the decorating, and while I don’t know who started the tradition, I can tell you that I saw some families doing their decorating in broad daylight – so I believe it’s an Austin tradition that’s been spreading across the masses over the years.
I love the spirit and the cheer – but I do hope that as more and more of the public jumps on the Loop 360 tree decorating bandwagon, they remember to come take those decorations down after the New Year themselves, and not leave that to the City or other local elves.
